Handwork Enrichment
Handwork Enrichment Students will be led by experienced and skilled artisan Stacy Zink. Read more about Stacy on our faculty page HERE. Your student will enjoy developing important fine motor skills, visual tracking and strengthen her will-forces by working through projects and learning new skills.

Weekly Schedule

This session, through knitting, nurtures fine motor skills and visual tracking in a fun and developmentally appropriate manner.
Children will learn the basics of knitting: casting on and casting off, and increasing and decreasing. Each child will make several knitted toys including a daisy chain, a rabbit, a lamb and a lion.
Seasonal crafts will include wet felted acorns for autumn and indigo dyed starry night play silks for winter solstice. Stories and verses will be included in the class, evoking imagination and creativity in the child.
A materials fee of $30 will be required for materials used during the course each semester.

Handwork continues to nurture fine motor skills and visual tracking in a fun and developmentally appropriate manner.
Children will be encouraged and supported in creating their own designs.
The children’s creativity will be guided into projects such as a wet felt color wheel (color and design will be discussed), a needle holder to keep supplies, an embroidered table mat for Thanksgiving and winter hats knitted in the round. Stories and verses will also be included in the class.
