Description
Waldorf Spanish Enrichment
Waldorf Spanish Enrichment Students will be led by an experienced and Waldorf Certified teacher, Rocio Levito. Here is an overview of this enrichment, for the year to come in an open letter to parents:
Dear Parents,
I would like to introduce our Spanish Program for the lower grades. The Spanish curriculum at Threefold Village is based upon the most appropriate development for the children.
In the first three grades, the experience of the language is completely oral and taught through rhythmical movement. Waldorf pedagogy recognizes the benefits of a natural, oral method of language learning – beginning with the first grade when the children’s capacity for imitation is still strong and spontaneous.
From year to year, each group of students manifests a distinct group personality, temperament and/or learning capacity. Therefore, the actual content of the lessons must remain flexible.
My lessons are designed to maximize the students’ capacities for: attention, listening activities, recitation and movement – establishing expansion and contraction in their breathing. The children are also guided and encouraged to form oral sentences. These seemingly practical expressions are also reverent activities that eventually form a tapestry of thoughts and feelings within the student, and cultivate sympathy and appreciation for other cultures.
When you enroll you will receive the Spanish curriculum overview and goals to achieve in the Lower Grades – based upon our Waldorf inspired Philosophy and, of course, adjusted to needs of the Threefold Village community.
I’m so looking forward to working with your children at Threefold Village.
Happy new semester!
